Law Camp: OG 8 (The Barrow Gang)OGLs: Wai Mun and King ManOG Councillors: Kyle, Aloysius, Brenda, Chun Ying, Eugene, Longjin, Wei Chin, Jolyn, Vasudha The freshies: Ben, Ryan, Nat, Vincent, Vikrum, Edward, Hou Yuen, Wei Cong, Joanna, Pei Yin, Sarah, K, Wen Lin and ME!Just came back from law camp with severe lack of sleep...So don't mind me if I sound incoherent...:P Oh, and this entry will be REAL LONG. So be warned...:PDay 1:
Went to Temasek Hall at NUS early in the morning at 8.30am. After registration, it turns out that the OG has a real good mix of people from all the different jcs! Morning was not much...Spent playing the usual icebreaker games like Wacko and some Animal Signs game and being assigned to our rooms...(ended up with a double room with Pei Yin :) ) After lunch though, was our very first session of the inter-og secret pal. (basically everyone will be blindfolded and paired up with a person of the opposite sex from another og to talk crap about anything except what their real names are...) Turns out there was some screw-up, and the Sean Penn to my Madonna was a gal! Lol. So got randomly dumped into a threesome with some other guy and "Batman" for the day. Sad to say that up until today...I still have NO IDEA who they are...(haha you'll see why later) After that, it was on to the usual inter-OG games where you go through mud, soap, eggs etc and basically get SUPER dirty when you are done. Anyway, the most exciting, and humiliating activity was the evening's Night Court. King Mun, Wai Mun and the rest of the Year 2s managed to half-convince us freshies with their straight faces and serious looks that Night Court was a test that accounted for 20% of Semester 1's Legal Analysis and Writing, where we were supposed to send 2 representatives per OG to give a presentation of our conclusion and conviction of the killer of a "murder case". It was held in the Moot Court, and they actually had "judges" to preside our presentation! Haha, turns out it's all a hoax though, with Year 2s planted within certain OGs, like that gal whose presentation made it seem like she practically swallowed the whole law textbook (what with Section 299 of the Criminal Offence Act, taking into consideration its 4 areas of exceptions blah blah blah) and the guy who got "pissed off" and lunged at the "judges". Haha, but that's not the embarrassing part. After it was clear that the whole activity was an act, the "judges" started torturing us freshies by making people present their case to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars, fan the "judges" cos they were hot, speak like Yoda in their presentation etc. The most memorable though, will have to be Fabio, man of man. Hou Yuen and Edward kena-ed to be this year's Fabios, standing next to the "judges" and posing and flexing their muscles, shouting "I'M FABIO, MAN OF MAN" everytime the "judge" pointed his way...:P
Day 2:
Today's main day activity was Amazing Race, where we had to complete a task at each station. Went from Suntec --> Bugis --> Chijmes --> National Library --> Supreme Court --> Esplanade --> Millinia Walk. Luckily we only kena forfeit at Suntec (pair up and do a waltz for everyone to see) and Chijmes (pair up and do a sultry runway walk) My fav station's the Bugis stop, where we had to take 4 out of 5 pics: a) a girl wearing braces and eating an ice-cream b) an inter-racial couple c) a couple where the guy is shorter than the gal d) a blonde-haired person reading a book 5) a station master drinking a Starbucks drink. Haha, we absolutely refused to let the station masters have their way by treating them to Starbucks, so searched the entire Bugis for the other pics...and it was surprisingly fast, though technically we bought the ice-cream for the gal with braces to eat, and just basically grabbed a book at Kino for the blonde to hold and "read". Haha, the station masters looked quite sad that we managed to find everything else and didn't have to resort to treating them. :P The night activity was Jungle Trek...though don't get confused by the title..cos rather than a jungle, we were walking through Law Fac blindfolded with Year 2s guiding us with the now immortalised phrase "follow my voice". Initially when they randomly paired us off and then seperated me from Edward, thought it was going to be some Haunted House thing where the seniors will hide and boo us...but turns out that's only the starting part. After being blindfolded, did a series of activities like an obstacle course of chairs and tables and sliding down a ramp placed on a flight of stairs (still dunno where that is though, cos Kyle absolutely refused to say, while I couldn't really understand Aloysius' explanation of the location), as well as being poured and sprinkled with random stuff like flour, powder and water, and asked questions like "So who do you think is the hottest freshie/councillor?" My group was Barney and friends: Me, Christine, Cheryl (not the 3c one), Jo Joy, Clarise and Sarah. Met Ben and Edward along the way as they, the Planetiers (erm is that how it's spelled) were about the same pace at the stations. Haha, one of the gals in my group kind of saboed them into doing their "EARTH, FIRE, WIND, WATER, HEART. WE ARE THE PLANETIERS!", then Edward's infamous "I'M FABIO, MAN OF MAN!" cheer a second time, and Ben came to zhao3 wo3 suan4 zhang4 after that, thinking it was me...Darn we were both blindfolded so I couldn't prove my innocence...:P
Day 3:
Morning activity was water games. As only Pei Yin and I could swim more... (Joanna and Sarah didn't really know how to swim, K was having rashes, and Wen Lin had to wear her t-shirt over her swimsuit as her swimwear lacked pads) ended up doing 3 out of 4 activities...and under the baking sun...am now severely sunburnt! (haha you should look at my shoulder...red like a lobster...;) ) Anyway, afternoon was then the second session of secret pal...And as usual, since Sean Penn is still the same gal, got dumped into yet another threesome, this time with "Paris Hilton's boyfriend of the moment" and "Peter Parker". After the session, Ryan was saying how I'll end up with 4 guys knocking on my door to bring me to formal dinner, and then I'll have to "break 4 hearts". Haha whatever. Night's activity was 4 mini stations. The roof-top station must really be the most EMBARRASSING station I've ever seen. One part was that a gal from each og was supposed to shampoo a guy's hair, while the guy will... -ahem-... groan and make all sorts of aroused noises...and that's already the most MILD part of the station. Ryan was DAMN GOOD at acting it though...haha his thick-skin won us the station man. Anyway, another station had seniors posing stupid questions, eg:
Station master: What's a Kiwi?
Freshie: A fruit
Station master: Nope a bird. -spray water on freshie-
The night's finale was a huge inter-og water bomb fight, which got me drenched AGAIN. (and to think I dried off after the morning's water games :P) After bathing and stuff though, only slept at 4am as Kyle and Aloysius decided to crash Pei Yin and my room, and then Aloysius decided to knock on everyone else's door to have an OG chat session at the lounge, where we talked about stuff like Matric Week, the whole concept that "we should not eat where we shit" (haha cos apparantly A LOT of law people tend to "inbreed" and date fellow law students...:P) , and how apparantly one girl singled out Ben as hot during the Jungle Trek.
Day 4:
Thankfully, there were no morning activities today! For some funny reason though, I woke up at 10.30am and couldn't go back to sleep, so sat around at the lounge with a few of my OG mates who were also awake to watch TV and waited for lunch at 12. After that was the very last session of secret pals, and lo and behold, I got yet ANOTHER 2 different guys, Leopold and ???. (haha can't catch what he said) I was somewhat stoned because of lack of sleep, but luckily ??? managed to initiate convo and break out of the initial awkward silences. :) Then it was off to Inter-OG games like Frisbee, Captain's Ball, Soccer, and Floorball. Games were darn rough though, especially cos we seem to always end up playing the OGs with extremely high amounts of testosterone, and all the girls and a few of the guys ended up sustaining injuries, such that our councillors and OGLs had to sub us at the games. Luckily my fall only resulted in a mild abrasion, so still managed to play everything except soccer. (which I decided to sit out of) Evening was then the "much-awaited" formal dinner. Fortunately for me, my DIY make-up turned out better than expected, but as expected, I had no partner for the dinner, what with Sean Penn being a gal. :P Haha, initially the senior who came to sort out the problem didn't let me choose Ben (whose partner was MIA) to be my partner cos we were in the same OG, but then when I told her that she can then randomly choose one guy for me, guess who I ended up with? Ben! LOL. Bless the Tolberone chocolates he bought for his formal dinner date. :P Anyway, both of us ended up in the same table as Ryan and Chun Ying...Not bad lah...at least ended up with ppl I know and could talk to. :) Oh, and Thea and Daniel from OG 1 were officially voted hottest chick and guy in the freshie year! :P After that, cos my OG was quite on about the idea, went with them to Double O for clubbing for the very first time in my life. Well, I suppose the dancing part is fine, but didn't really like the smoke, and not that keen about the drinking part either, which the guys were downing like they were drinking plain water, while I just took a few sips for the taste when they offered them to me. They just couldn't understand why Joanna and I wanted to drink orange juice instead of something alcoholic, and were all "huh...you come to a club to drink NON-alcoholic drinks?" The getting hit-on by other guys part is rather irritating too, but thankfully didn't have any guys trying to do anything funny come near me on the dance floor, cos the OG guys were real alert in helping to block them out from us gals. Really darn thankful for that. :D Think clubbing's really not my scene though...Really don't see the fun of entering such a smoke-filled environment for who knows how many hours, and don't really see the kick out of drinking copious amounts of alcohol either...considering how it mostly just leads to vomiting and hangovers if you over-drink your limit (which luckily none of my OG guys did)Day 5:Check out! Haha, that's why I'm back so early. Ryan's supposed to plan OG outing to go watch Superman Returns. Yay finally some people to watch it with me!
