Was watching The Omen and was personally freaked out by the boy. the boy was eerie because he was so silent - the filmmakers seemed to have kept his dialogue to a minimum. but it worked..his silence creeped me out. totally. and his dimples just didn't make him look any cuter.
Realised how horror movie filmmakers are now aggressively relying on a shopworn movie tradition: the creepy kid. you see the creepy kid character everywhere. Like "The Omen", "The Exorcist", "The Sixth Sense", "The Grudge" and "Dark Water". it's eerie. kids just somehow manage to play the creepy character so well. i could literally feel goosebumps when i watched The Exorcist (i admit, i was stupid enough to watch it in the dead middle of the night). there is something about corrupting innocents that feels so wrong - it is seeing evil manifesting itself in an innocent mind that ain't right. that could be why it is so frightening and disturbing, or maybe even 'appealing', according to Tony Timpone (editor of Fangoria magazine). now with all the hype about creepy kids in horror flicks, many parents are eagerly sending their children to Hollywood, probably secretly hoping that their kid would be creepy enough to look like an evil incarnate.
looks like rosemary's babies are here to stay.
