watched The Lake House with sandie meepok today. a pretty short but endearing wrinkle-in-time romance that will have you pulling out your hankerchief. the whole story hinges on the magical mailbox, which is their only form of communication. (im still pretty much amazed by the mailbox by the way. haha) and over time, they realised that they are falling head over heels in love with each other even though they haven't officially met. quite weird eh. hahaha. when they discover that they are actually living two years apart, they must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it is too late. there was a nice twist towards the end :):) but i'm still pretty confused how they ended up together... it's almost like he teleported himself to the future to look for her. i'd very much prefer a tragic ending where they never meet. owells.

reuben morgan rocked praise and worship today!! didn't manage to get his autograph after service though..hehe. Rev. Mike Connell spoke a prophetic word on deliverance today :):) but i didn't manage to catch the deliverance session at 1pm today because i had to rush off to meet the imperial/dsta pple. but i can't wait for FOP next SuN!! Don Moen will be coming...together with the CCC band!! wheee it's gonna be exciting =D

the seniors are all really nice :) one or two of them are fresh graduates while the rest are mostly 1st yr grads. night was spent having steamboat... and the whole time jeremy was telling william to give up his intercollegiate hall and move into his own private apartment, after which he listed like 10 million disadvantages of staying in intercollegiate, with the aid of all the seniors ard. hahaa. poor william, but stubborn him insisted that he's gonna be the one having the last laugh. wahahaha. yea yea we'll visit u more often, haha!we reckon he's gonna start buzzing jeremy's hp one month into his intercollegiate stay. hehe! :) PROVE US ALL WRONG WILLIAM! anw, if i get wilson hall, i'd prob be quite far from campus too...30mins walk. groans. and i found out from daryl that it costs a frigging 5 POUNDS PER HOUR for the squash courts at the imperial sports complex. AIKS. i need budget control man.

Was actually awake enough this morning to go catch a movie with sok and eng shing, but got barred from going cos my mum said I had already been out the whole of yesterday. :( Laughed my head off when i heard that they eventually ended up watching The Lake House though. (Cos apparantly Dragon Tiger Gate and Tokyo Drift both didn't have 2pm+ timings for them to make it in time to meet weiting and me at 4pm.) Haha, the both of them were all, "2 guys watching a romance show like Lake House...ji gay!!" :P Oh, and thankfully we managed to get a lift from shi hui after getting all the food. Was telling sok how it's a darn weird feeling that it's the girls who are driving the guys around, cos in law fac, it's always the guys driving us gals around in their cars...:P

Anyway, my initial plan to surprise all the ppl going overseas with farewell cards kind of fell flat, despite me painstakingly sending out seperate messages for them to come at 6pm (while the rest of us are to meet up at 5.15pm). Hmmm...but guess word must have gotten around that the rest of the class are meeting at 5+, cos the 6pm ppl all started calling me up/smsing me at 5.30, telling me that they're almost there...and even though we tried all sorts of stalling tactics, including giving directions to the bus stop further away from shi hui's house so that they've to walk further, the latest amongst them arrived at 6 sharp! Darn.

Realised that bbq is really hard work though. Silly really...it's not like this is the first bbq outing i've planned...but seems like i didn't learn my lesson from the last time. :P Luckily the guys volunteered to take over the cooking from the girls in the end (after a REALLY long time though). But not bad i guess...last time they didn't even care to offer their services at all. :p Haha, but i think my parents really have darn good timing...Just as we were about to start playing "traffic light", (something like 'i've never') they came to pick me up. AGAIN, just like yesterday!! Haha man, i'm not fated to play these games...;)

Sentosa! The sun, the sand and the sea...


Haha actually the sun was kind of missing at the start. Our whole og had barely settled in to a game of captain's ball at Siloso Beach when it started pouring darn heavily! Killed the time playing dai de (king man was darn pro! Cleared all her cards when only longjin had put down one, and the rest still had ALL of their cards...:P) until the rain stopped, then my team for captain's ball (peiyin, wei chin, kyle, king man, vikrum and wei cong) started getting thrashed by the other team (wenlin, wai mun, joanna, ryan, long jin, fabio and vincent) even though all the guys in my team were like towering over the guys in the other team! :P Haha, luckily managed to "regain our honour", as wei chin put it, in the second half after edward joined us. By then though, was kinda stoning with wenlin already cos we were tired of running (we were blocking each other) and just stood rooted to the spot until the ball came our way. :P

Then somehow we managed to get a beach volleyball court! Hmmm...usually it's so hard to find one on weekends. My volleyball seriously cannot make it...but longjin was a national team player, so just relied on him to send the ball over...:P Haha, we all started calling Ryan the sissy player (he says he plays for a Community Centre, or CC), then he was all "i'm going to play properly now" and -whack-, served the ball into the net. :P

Then it was off into the sea! Wah shiok. Before that i was feeling so hot and sweaty, but then the water was really nice and cooling! :) Peiyin and i kept getting washed to shore by the huge waves created by the ships passing by, then we had to wade ourselves back into the water to get rid of all the sand that was washed up with us. :P Poor joanna was the only one left on shore though, cos she didn't bring change of clothes. Haha, for a while she didn't even dare come near us, what with Kyle going "hey joanna! Come!! Come talk to us!!" and -huge grin-, making her think that we were planning on dunking her into the water. :P Oh, but singapore water is really quite dirty. Apparantly there was this durian shell in the water, and waimun actually stepped on it! Ouch.

For dinner, cos everyone didn't think too highly of the food at harbourfront, went down to suntec and after walking round and round the restaurants around the fountain of wealth (haha i was willing them to decide on something...anything...cos i was SO hungry), finally settled on carls' jr! There were no available seats, so we ordered takeaway and brought the food to the suntec skygarden. Ordered onion rings with my set, blatantly ignoring the fact that i had sore throat. (thank goodness my throat doesn't seem any worse today..:P) Well, some food are just worth getting a sore throat over. :P We were initially thinking of playing the "i've never" game, but then i had to leave, so everyone else started zaoing too. Oopz, wet blanket. Haha, not that there's any interesting and scandalous secrets to be dug out of me even if i did play anyway. I'll probably end up eating/drinking the least. :P

last night

Haagen Daaz - Chocolate Fondue!
haagen daaz fondue with dan at clarke quay. Woot! the choc fondue there is fanta-bulous. it has got 14 balls of ice-cream in 4 different flavours - chocolate chocolate chip, strawberry, macademia nut and coffee - lots of fruits like bananas, strawberries and sweet green apples. of all the fruits, the banana tastes the best when coated with chocolate and roasted nuts. plus there were also chocolate chip cookies, tiny dices of sponge cakes, wafer biscuits and roasted nuts! the ice cream is still the ultimate; once u dipped the ice cream into the warmly melted chocolate, you can distinctly see the layer of chocolate hardening up...and when u put it into your mouth, OMG it's DAMN SHIOK.

came back yesterday at 10am in the morning after night cycling. i fell asleep for about 2hrs before i got woken up by Sally's call. SALLY-BELLY!! you're back from taiwan! haha :) glad the taiwan emerge was a great bang and i bet u ate a lot in taiwan right? hehe. anyway, thanks for the cookie! will confirm with u about the kayaking course again kae, cos im really really broke now. haha. btw, dragon boating!! when are we doing it??

somehow we ALWAYS end up playing arcade...even though the walk to the Suntec arcade is long and treacherous. hahaha. reliving our childhood days, maybe?

WOMAN! wow you're finally back! hahaha. where have all the squashies disappeared to?? i miss u all! and i miss training with u guys even more! remember how in spite of our aches, we still went for training almost everyday? even SUNDAY! hahaha. i can still recall how u bribed the security guard with your curry puff just so that he would let u in! crazy moments in the court are hard to forget... like tennis-squash and ceiling squash! haha, that was when we got tired of squash after 4hrs of training and so we decided to innovate :):) 4 dollars! u always used to run so fast during physical it's hard to catch up with u...it's like u're made of metal or sthg. hahaha. it's weird how we used to hate zainal's trainings, esp. his physical (wah, he thinks we're all robots), but we all miss those trainings so badly now. those crazy never-ending court sprints, ghostings, long-dist trainings, court drills were killers. but it wasn't the pain and aches that mattered, what mattered was that we sweated panted and died together. in court and off court. i miss rgsquash.

we loved the place and the food. but the downside was that we got lousy pok seats because we didn't reserve the nice big comfy green sofas. Mmmm and there was a nice big candy floss machine! Oooo how nice if i had one at home :) as NYNY didn't have the fried mars bar yesterday, we trooped down to Changing Appetites at Marina Square for dessert... Peach Ice Cream Waffle! waffle's a bit burnt though... xl's super tempted by the main courses there, which are damn nice btw, so we shall go back...hmm next week? hahaha gluttons we are. was just thinking what a nice tai tai lifestyle we're living now... eating, shopping, gossiping, blah blah. will definitely miss that when school starts. hehe.

NIGHT CYCLING :):)
everyone was psyched up and adrenaline-filled, all up and ready for an exciting night out on the Singapore roads!! get ready for the night cyclists! hahaha we have weihao the maths-genius (and his fav 'pro-like-mad' trademark statement), frank & liksin the two never-ending machine guns, daniel a.k.a. mr boom-box (its nice to cycle behind him cos he blasts music thru his speaker haha) and many many many fun fun pple that made the night... well, for the lack of a better word, FUNNN! hahaha.

our first pit-stop for the night was makan at Changi Village. too bad the uber famous chicken rice stall closed early :( liksin burst his bike tyre so haoxiang had to go home and get his bike for liksin. and guess who i bumped into at CV???? HUILING!!! oh my god. my fav rgs squash senior whom i havent seen in centuries. hahaha im not saying tt you're old. grins! can still remember u drilling and feedin us balls in the court, when we were still super lousy and couldn't hit the ball straight. haha! and i bumped into christine, a church friend and Daryl, my imperial mentor. wow! amazing, it's a small world after all. it's a wonder how u actually know quite a lot of people from different places and during different parts of your lives.

Losing my voice...Please NO...sore throat pls go away...

The newest way to give out flyers: smack them in a person's face and hope that he/she will be so shocked that he/she will grab the flyer as a form of self-defense, before it hits them in the eye. Then -tada-, you'll have one less flyer to give out! Met with this twice in 2 days. When i experienced it for the very first time, was so shocked that i actually stopped in my tracks. Haha, luckily managed to regain some senses and to say 'NO'. Shouldn't give the distributors the satisfaction of accepting their flyer. That'll be encouraging such behaviour. :P

Anyway, met up with Jen at orchard today. It's been a long time since I last saw her! Went to tcc for tea, where I ordered the 'oreo mocha frappe', (hmmm i'm usually not much of a coffee fan, but this drink is quite good!) and jen the 'peach me up'. It was great to catch up with her, and to talk about everything from how she's going LSE law and been doing some part-time modelling this year, to how we're both not free to send Vaish off... (really sorry gal!!! I know i promised to go send you off...:( ) It was almost like the old debate days again, where we'll meet up everyday for debate prep, and spend most of the time gossiping/talking crap/creating scandals for one another (of which i still feel obliged to point out about just how UNFOUNDED mine was...:P) instead of preparing our cases...:P Sigh, and once again, I'm being the odd one out in my team for staying in singapore for uni. (Previously, I was the only one who went into science stream, despite MUCH persuasion from all of them...:P) Rui's going Oxford, Jen LSE (as mentioned earlier), and Vaish to Berkley. Christl is of course, still in j2, but we'll see...Maybe she'll fly off too! Sad. :(

Got challenged with several maths brainteasers by xiu today, so shall share them here for all those who, like me, feel like they need to get their rusty brains up and running again before uni starts. :P

Qn 1: You have 5 hats, 3 green hats and 2 red hats. 3 people are standing facing the wall, and you place one hat on each of their heads. The 3 people are then told to turn 90 degrees to the right, such that the person at the back can see the colours of the hats on the first 2 ppl, and the middle person can see the hat on the person right in front. You ask the person at the back whether he knows the colour of the hat on his head, and the person says, 'no'. You then ask the person in the middle whether he knows the colour of the hat on his head, and he too replies, 'no'. Finally, you ask the person in front if he knows the colour of his hat, and this time, he says, 'yes'. So what IS the colour of the hat on the person right in front?

Qn 2:
Scenerio 1 (easy): You have 8 stones, of which 7 are of the same weight, and 1 is heavier than the rest, and a balancing scale (aka you can put stones on each side of the scale to see if they balance). How can you figure out which stone is the odd one out in 3 steps? (You can put as many stones as you like on each side of the scale in each of the steps)

Scenerio 2 (medium): This time, you have 9 stones, of which 1 is the odd one out. However, now you are not told if this stone is heavier or lighter than the rest. How can you figure out which stone is the odd one out, and whether it is lighter or heavier than the other stones, in 3 steps?

Scenerio 3 (difficult): You now have 12 stones. As with scenario 2, you are not told if the stone that is the odd one out is heavier or lighter than the rest. Figure out which stone is of different weight, and whether it is heavier or lighter, in 3 steps.

Qn 3: (this qn is madness...I couldn’t solve it...But oh wells, I know there are geniuses out that who can probably like get it the moment they look at it :P):
100 people are stranded on an island, of which 50 are brown-eyed, while 50 are blue-eyed. However, these 100 people are not informed of the ratio of brown-eyed people vs blue-eyed people, and are only told of one thing, that there is at least 1 blue-eyed person amongst the 100 of them. Every day, a ship will arrive on the island to fetch the blue-eyed people back to the mainland. So if a person is sure that he or she is blue-eyed, he or she can board the ship. Therefore, how many days does it take for all the blue-eyed people to figure out the colour of their eyes (assuming they’ve never stared in a mirror before in their whole lives and therefore are clueless about what colour their eyes are) and to leave the island, assuming that all 100 people on the island are not allowed to communicate with each other, and are only allowed to observe the colour of the eyes of other people stranded there. (The first day the people are stranded on the island is taken to be day 0)

Woke up at 10am and watched in amazement as Miss Puerto Rico took home the title of Miss Universe. Both Lilian and I agreed that Miss Japan was a strong contender for the title, until she opened her mouth to speak, that is. Check out her ans:

Qn: I heard you speak French and Spanish? How did that come about?
Ans: -starts blabbering her whole ans in French, to the bewilderment of the MCs and the japanese translator- Oh, and by the way, can I say something? I think the audience here is really passionate and full of energy, and I want to say thank you to all of you for being such a great audience!!

Qn: What is one thing in the history of humanity you would want to change?
Ans: I think there's nothing much different between men and women...-blah blah blah a lot more irrelevant stuff which I can't recall anymore-...but I wish the world will be rid of exploitation and violence.

Hmmm...have come to the conclusion that there's either some huge language barrier and translation problem (which is a real pity), or Miss Japan with all her beauty just lacks in the brains dept. Haha, her whole outburst about the 'wonderful audience' just screams bimbo to me, but Lilian was still rooting for her, so maybe I'm just being overly critical...:P

Anyway, Lilian came over today for cycling at east coast. Cos the weather was too hot, we decided to play a round of my LOTR-edition monopoly before leaving. As usual, I ended up paying money non-stop for landing on all her properties, and just as we decided to pack up and leave, she decided to use up most of her money to build 4 strongholds (houses) on one of her more expensive properties, which I promptly managed to land on on the next turn and get myself bankrupted. What can I say...I have bad luck in these games. Plus I was perhaps suicidal in agreeing to her trade negotiation of swapping properties such that she had the monopoly of the whole high-end district from Fangorn Forest (yellow colour property, the stretch before 'Go to Jail') all the way to Mount Doom (the very last property before 'GO!'), while I had all the cheap properties which gave me peanuts even though I had already build fortresses (hotels).

Cycling at East Coast was fun! Haha, the old saying that you can never forget how to ride a bike once you've learned it is clearly not true, as Lilian wobbled her way around on her kiddy bicycle (I insisted that the bike was too small for her, but she didn't listen :P) for the first 30min we were there, the first time she has cycled since she was sec 1!! But she managed to pick up the skill again quite quickly, and we cycled all the way (ok admittedly it was not THAT far away) to Bedok Jetty to look at the people fishing for ikan kurau (haha at least the fish were all around that size, which I think is quite sad)

Dinner was at Parkway, where I satisfied my craving for Pastamania's Ham and Sausage Baked Rice. Lilian's Al Funghi was not bad too! The mushrooms were really tasty! YUM!! Oh, and we managed to find a school bag for Lilian in record time after dinner. A short trip to Isetan, glanced around at a few bags, and voila, found a bag that looked rather decent and was big enough to stuff in notes and books! Haha, efficient! :D

with lingz & brian at service today


today's sermon is part of a 14-lessons marriage workshop. though the topic at hand wasn't exactly relevant to us now... but it was a really good Word and Pastor Kong made it thoroughly enjoyable with all of his jokes on difficult in-laws. haha :)

PS: Lingz, praise was a blast today! i'm really really happy for you =) Pray and give thanks always. Remain faithful in Christ and you will experience heaven on earth. *hugs*

those simple words hit so hard. but im gonna stop crying.

i know that the distance has been straining for you, and i don't blame you for feeling this way. it will always work out. and so we said, half a yr ago. really? i know that the burden is getting to you...and things are much harder to relate now that we don't see each other. it's almost like we're living different lives. i don't blame you for making this choice. and this is a choice i had to make ultimately, as painful as it is. as much as i try to convince myself that this decision is the best for the both of us...that maybe we'd be better off this way, i really still miss you a hell lot :(
i really do.

even as im slowly starting to let go and lean on God's strength, those memories will still inevitably come back. especially when i'm alone. and i hate it because i can't help breaking down when they do. Don't cry because it's over now, but laugh because it happened. thanks for everything. thanks for making this past 1 and a half yrs a magical part of my life... im happy to have experienced it with you. how every song reminds me of what used to be.

Sailing! Day 3 =)
weather was pretty cloudy today, and we were told there might be jellyfishes in the sea. hmm.
practical assessment involved a pretty simple route...beating up into the wind by tacking and then doing a run on the way back. then we performed the man overboard drill and heave-to (something like parking, haha) we were much more cautious of the boom..after what happened the day before. so there were fewer stories of people suffering from concussions after being whacked smack-on by the boom. haha :)


then the instructors led us on a mini-expedition to loyang beach and then back to coney island. Woot! we had nice strong winds today so the trip was really enjoyable. hiking rocks! we were all travelling at close-haul at pretty high speeds so most of the time we were hiking and using our body weight to balance the boat. so we really got to lean our body out, pull in the mainsheet tight and ride the waves! twas was adrenaline-pumping & exhilarating! loved the feeling of zipping across the sea with the boat humming away...it makes u feel really really high. haha!


oh yea. i almost got ziyang's head sliced off today. his boat capsized and while he was trying to upright it, my boat suddenly caught wind and picked up speed. prob is, my boat was headed straight in his direction...straight at his head, to be more precise. oops! luckily he moved fast enough or else his head would be... erm well, yea i'll leave the imagination up to u.

half baked. we bought the ben & jerry's ice-cream bar which tastes so so good.
"Cookie Dough Ice Cream on a Brownie with a Thick Drizzle of Milk Chocolate Coating!" Mmmmm...im getting fat on B&J's. haha. and we discovered a new flavour - Magic Brownies!! drools.

Day 2 of sailing =)



my face is like bak gua now. pain

did the triangular course today...

today's wind was strong and fun to tack, gybe and do whatever water-acrobatics on the laser. hahaha. could feel the wind and control the sails much better today...partly cos the wind ain't so shifty and understood the mechanisms of the boat better. but lawrence was still the pro la..zipping up and down the water, tacking and gybing around the buoys. nice :) initially i couldn't do the tack properly cos my boat wasn't gaining momentum so i kept performing a half-tack. so basically i was caught in the iron situation a couple of times...which was super super irritating. this is when the boom will be swinging mercilessly above ur poor head, and if u don't avoid it u will end up with multiple concussions. ouch. not very nice.

the winds got stronger and the waves choppier towards mid-afternoon. i was close to capsizing because the boat was pretty hard to control..but i refused to capsize. hahaha so when the boat was heeling like mad (the sail was alr touching the water) i was sitting on top of the hull, trying to force my entire weight back and PUSH!! and it uprighted! :) adrenaline rush. will do the hike tmr and try get my ass to touch the water. hahaha.

theory and practical test tmr. then we'll all be certified sailors! yayy.
