It's darn hilarious watching RI's third speaker on The Arena.
HC Speaker: ...silent contemplation can also be considered as youths having political interest.
RI Speaker: The other side have said that silent contemplation is a signal of political interest in youths. Hmmm...let me
silently contemplate. -pauses as he pretends to be contemplating- Now, how do you tell whether i was pondering about political issues, or whether i was just thinking about going home after this debate?
Also love the way he uses analogies.
RI Speaker: It's one thing to say that there's one zoo here, and one zoo here, and another zoo there. But there's no significance to it if you don't also show that there's all these animals in the zoos. Similarly, you talk about (politics-related) clubs springing up here and there, but you have failed to show us who's in this club, and how many people there are in these clubs. What we need is
statistics. (to show that indeed a majority of youths are not apathetic)
For someone so small (not only in age but also in size), he sure steals the limelight from everyone else and gets his points across clearly and humourously. :P
Anyway, starting to feel the back-to-school blues. It's not even the middle of the week (ok fine, so it IS past midnight already) and i'm already resorting to taking afternoon naps everyday to catch up on rest. Aiks. Should adopt Nik's optimism. It's 'two more days to the weekends'! (albeit two
long days...if the pessimist in me might just add...:P)

i am super sleep deprived. and materials today was a total waste of time cos the lecturer was bullcrap.i think i need major sleep therapy...but my body clock is already so screwed cos ive been staying up past 2am almost everynight for the past week or so.i dont even know what i do on my laptop till that kind of unearthly hour man...
anyways. im dying to go back. i think i dreamt that i was back in orchard road and east coast park last night. and i usually dont remember dreams. it was so surreal that when i woke up this morning, i really thought i was back home. until i switched on the lights, and dang..im still in miserably cold london.
on a happier note, im going to SPAIN during my easter break!!! =)=) woohoo major retail therapy coming my way in barcelona! wahaha..
xinling: omg!! 350 pages of notes?! that's seriously crazy man. best of luck for ur exams! hope u will be able to crammmmm all of that info in !!

Some random photos i found off wan's photo collection...

At the garden festival at Suntec last year!

Wan, Pearl and I chewing on our heart-shaped watermelons at the korean bbq restaurant at east coast...:P
And a pic i got from py: og8 outing at sentosa!

Anyway, met up with lilian at city hall today for much needed mugging. After exhausting my printer ink on about 350 pages worth of crim law notes yesterday...found out how much i was really BEHIND in my readings! And this is only for one subject, excluding contract and legal theory! This is no good...Tell me how i'm gonna catch up in time for the exams? HOWWW?! :(:(
Thankfully though, the studying session at the esplanade library was most productive...ok ok fine...QUITE productive...if you insist on counting the times i got distracted doing random stuff like checking out the vcds and dvds available (they actually have movies that are quite recent! :D), looking at the scripts of movies that they have, and doing lilian's organic chem qns for her. :P Haha, turned out i was the one doing the explaining to Lilian whenever she thought my ans to her practice questions were wrong though...instead of the other way around...Eh lilian, future chem teacher le! :P
Yep, to console myself about my progress, i've officially internalized (i hope) the concept of strict liability, or rather, the concept of why it shouldn't be there, for crim law! :D Yes yes, one chapter out of...10? But hey, it's a GOOD start. Optimism always helps, or so i keep telling myself... :D

P.s. Wan, can you send me the CNY photos? Thanks! :)

'See you all again next year!'
Wellz, CNY has come and gone. The good thing is, my allowance for the month is now significantly higher than usual. The bad? Now i'll have to wait another year to see a lot of my relatives again. It's kinda odd really, now that i think of it, how some relations are as good as strangers to me. I might not even recognize some of them if i bump into them randomly on the streets. In fact, i didn't even recognize my niece when she walked into e ahyi's house, as she has GROWN and changed so much within the previous one year that she's now almost her mum's height! Blame it on the growth spurt...:P
Day 1:
Actually, all of the bai4 nian4-ing was done in a day, even though i only woke up at noon! Haha, must be cos of the lack of sleep due to memo the day before. :P
Went visiting in the usual sequence: first da ahyi, then ah gu, then e ahyi. Except that this year, michelle and i ended up meeting at ah gu's house first instead of meeting straight at e ahyi's, cos she couldn't drag herself out of bed in the morning either. :P Except for breakfast (branch?) that day, didn't manage to eat a proper meal till dinnertime though...since we were rushing around from one house to another. But this was the perfect excuse for Michelle and me to stuff ourselves silly with pineapple tarts, kueh lapis, mochi and what-nots! So we won't go 'hungry', you know... :P
Ohhh, and on a completely unrelated note...michelle likes Wu Zun too!! So happy!!! :D (Haha yes yes, which means that I gushing about him again. ;) )
Anyway, after all that running around, went back home where wan, pearl and max's families came over to visit after dinner. Was happily showing off my newly renovated room, where us 'kids' spent most of the time bumming around and taking funky photo shots on my bed, with the mirror, and of our bags (My all-new crescent-shaped Guess bag! Proudest acquisition of the year. :D) Learnt a new song too. Some chinese-canto mixed song by wang li hom and another gal. Given my level of canto-speaking skills, no prizes for guessing which part the rest made me sing. :P (Hmph i'll MASTER the canto part one day ok...:P)
Day 2:
Not an eventful day really, since i'd already gone to everyone's house, and this year uncle lim had gone to penang for CNY, so we didn't have the usual CNY dinner at his house. In a way, that's kinda sad though, cos by this time next year, debbie will probably have gone overseas for uni, so I probably won't get to see her until like REALLY long later, if at all... :(
Anyways, went out shopping at the suntec and vivo city areas, where thankfully, most shops have already reopened after the CNY break! :) But...the CROWD....Man, i really should steer clear from vivo until the hype over it dies down.
And it really comes in pink!

Spotted weiting's dream car, in all its pink glory, at vivo! I've got to admit...the car really DOES look fantasic in this colour! Though if it's so eye-catching that there'll be loads of ppl snapping random shots of it and posting it on their blogs, maybe choosing this colour needs reconsidering...:P

and so she decided to take a leap of faith, to test herself, to step out of her comfort zone and pit herself against her own strength. she no longer wants to be running for the world to see, but to run for herself - that yes, this is my own race.trading places in the circle, turn the glass, spill the sand, they say that time can make the difference.maybe she should wait and let the wound heal by itself.but she cant, because she knows that she's falling to pieces.as much as she wants to pick up the pieces and run away, run away from humanity, from the physical problems of the world and shut herself up in her emotional cocoon..she knows there should be a better way out.is this the way, she is still confused.

Before I type anything else, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!!Wellz...mid-term break is finally here. Time to catch up with friends, sleep, tv shows and...readings for school! Haha, that last part, I know i've been telling myself since the start of the year (obviously without much success), and in the end, i bet i'll spend all of next week relaxing more than turning over my new leaf...but hey, optimism is always good, no? :P Seems like next week is quite booked though. There's relatives to visit, a mahjong session to go for, friends whom i havent seen in ages to meet up with, and hypothetically, a friend's house whom i'm supposed to go visit over the new year's...With so many things to do, where's the time to study?? Haha...there i go again...excuses excuses.Seriously, i'm becoming UNFIT though. PY, my usual badminton partner last sem, has training sessions for ivg 3-4 times a week now, so even MORE pt with me on fridays is out of the question. And i've yet to find someone else who's willing to play with me on a weekly basis...Last i checked, my stamina is on a steep slide downhill. Good thing is, i'm determined to factor some exercise time into my already rather full schedule next week. Even better still, i'm determined to drag lilian down from her house all the way in bukit batok to play badminton here at my condo in marine parade. Yep, the chances of me getting myself back into shape are looking good already. :PAnyway, don't know if i've written about this already, but i'm seriously looking forward to the end of this sem. The subjects with less work are not to my liking, and those that i actually think are nice are burying us with a truckload worth of work. My record thus far is sleeping at 5.30am this morning to rush out an assignment that's due at 11.59pm tonight. Yep, and i bet i'll rewrite history again in time to come. Even most of valentine's day was spent at the com rushing thru my work! Hot date between me and my memo...how exciting. And this is only year 1! If i remember correctly, a senior once told me that year 1 and 2 in law school is 'really slack compared to year 3 and 4'. Guess there's really something not to look forward to in a couple more years.Wells, I suppose there's still good parts about being in law school though. This is kinda stale news already, but i rather enjoyed the emcee-ing session i did for the mdc-lsirc debates, except for that slight screw-up where i affectionately referred to one of the judges by her first name instead of adding a title in front of it. AND ppl actually realised! Crap. Law school ppl are just TOO observant about speech errors like this for their own good...cos i was really quite SURE that i had covered up my mistake rather well! Haha, apparantly not. Cos seemed like EVERYONE noticed, as they sure didn't fail to comment about it after the event! :P Hmmm...if there is emcee-ing to do in future though, who knows i might decide to try it out again...This time, with no screw-ups. :P-XL :)P.s. A quote that i thought was really funny and should share with everyone: 'The thing about belly dancing is, no one will ever know that you are nervous. Cos you are always shaking all over.' -George Chan, judge of The Dance Floor.

cambridge fun! :)
8 0f us in jasho's room.her hall looks like a hotel, my goodness. everything there is so huge and spacious and nice! by the time we reached cambridge it was already 10pm so we were all famished and starving. we kinda exhausted that poor girl's supply of bakgua and clementines and cereals. haha. wholly unsatisfied, the 8 greedy pigs braved the rain and trooped down to the market square's Van of Life for pipin' hot chips and burgers =) yum!
ok, before i digress into food again..we took many lovely shots of cambridge. jasho has such a pretty view out of her window! cambridge is simply gorgeous =) i wish we could have half of that scenic beauty in london.
one of the courtyards in Pembroke
we were treated to a nice hot english breakfast meal at Pembroke dining hall!
it was a gloomy, sad and rainy day on sat...so we didn't get to punt as we had planned to :(:( weather was rainy the whole day..but we were still up and going! yingmei and jas brought us around to visit the different colleges..trinity, st johns, kings, christ and all. every college is pretty unique in its own way and omg i love kings! its so huge and maginificent, it looks like a castledom from afar!

kings college:)
our kodak moment =D
on sat evening, we dressed up and got ready for the Pembroke formal!
with caroline, laura and whui
this is what happens when we get tipsy hahaha
major bumming around!
we crammed into jasho's room like crazy..played mahjong and junked. when we finally had enough of mahjong, we just started lying on her floor and talked and talked and talked. sara and whui were taking randomly silly shots. cam-whores, all of us. hurhur.and whui was trying to use her legs to hold the camera so she could take a view shot of all of us..but obviously, she couldnt balance the camera on her toes so half the time we were amusedly watching her doing gymnastic-balancing-acts with her camera. lol.. we were making such a din that her neighbour had to come over and shush us up. hehes

we punted on sundaY! to our pleasant surprise, we woke up to a very sunny and cheery morning! weather perfect for punting! so we rushed down to the boathouse..but the self punts were not available, much to our dismay :( so we had to contend ourselves with the guided tour..which was quite enjoyable. we were quite thankful that we didnt attempt self-punting because the current was quite strong that day, and i think if anyone of us actually tried to punt, we would have taken a nice big plunge into the icy depths of the cambridge river. hahaha
row row row your boat...
taking a cruise down the cambridge river. we revisited some of the colleges alongside the riverbanks. and the view from the boat was picture perfect! :) we were busy snapping away with our cameras like tourists(really).
then we headed off for lunch - sunday roast! apparently it's an english tradition to have sunday roast...yes, on sundays. duh. its basically roast beef with grilled potatoes and yorkshire pudding =) finger-licking good. the rest of the afternoon was spent shopping in the market square..and before we knew it, it was time to go :(:(:(
im missing the cambridge fun alr..
back in london. with a pile of work. urgh
